HERMITAGE -- Leonora Zora Patrick of Girard, Ohio, passed away at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, in Nugent Convalescent Home in Hermitage. She was 98.
Leonora’s family and friends provided continuous support during her illness.
Mrs. Patrick was born Dec. 30, 1915, in Harmony, Pa., a daughter of Cyril and Frances Balich Furlan.
She graduated from Farrell High School and later married Louis Patrick in 1935.
In time, they moved to Girard, where Leonora resided until her passing.
Zora was proud of her Slovenian Heritage and culture. She was a lifelong member of Slovenska Narodna Podporna Jednota and belonged to Lodge 643 in Girard, remaining active until her passing. Leonora loved to attend the Sunday dances held at the SNPJ center in Enon Valley, Pa.
During World War II, Leonora was a Red Cross volunteer. She also worked as many women did in the factories that supported the war effort.
Leonora is survived by: her nieces, Geraldine Furlan, New Mexico; Sandra Furlan, West Middlesex; Sara Holley, Columbia, Md.; Betty Arcon, Toronto, Canada; and Mary Ann Mikel, Frankford, Canada; and nephews, Charles Arcon, Nova Scotia, Canada; Cyril Furlan and his wife Claudia, and son Noah; and Dave Ketnick, San Antonio, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Louis Partick; brother, Herman; her sister, Eleanor; niece, Karen Holley; and brother-in-law, Jack Ketnick.
Leonora will be much missed by family and friends who loved her very much.
