Kay E. McAtee Micosky

Ex-Hadley resident was artist, business owner

- — GLEN BURNIE, Md. – Kay E. McAtee Micosky, formerly of Hadley, passed onto her next journey on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at age 77, due to complications with pneumonia. Her children were by her side.

Mrs. McAtee Micosky was born in McKeesport, Pa., to George D. McAtee Sr. and Katherine McAtee.

She was a 1954 graduate of McKeesport High School and attended Penn State University from 1983-85.

Kay was a co-owner of Sandy Lake and Greenville Auto Parts.

She enjoyed painting, won numerous art show awards and sold her artwork locally. She was also the self-proclaimed mayor of Hadley Heights.

Kay is survived by: her son, Wallace “Mitch” Micosky and his wife Pam, Charlotte, N.C.; her daughters, Colette Vasvari and her husband Hal, Nazareth, Pa.; and Vikki Byerly and her husband John, Odenton, Md.; 10 grandchildren, Todd and Christopher Vasvari, Shaunna Rushing, Kristy Frontz, Steve Fontaine, Chad Frontz, Sean and Brett Vasvari, and Kaylee and Justin Byerly; four great-grandsons, Bryce and Brady Vasvari and Peyton and Parker Rushing; and a brother, George D. McAtee Jr. and his wife Ruth, McKeesport, Pa.

She also is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Jean Nemeth.

There will be no calling hours. Interment will be held at a future date in McKeesport.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made in Kay’s name to Commodore Perry High School, Attention: Lisa Emhoff, librarian, 3002 U.S. Route 19, Hadley, PA 16130; or Meadville Community Theatre, Box 330, Meadville, PA 16335.

In Kay’s words, “It was a lot of things, but it wasn’t boring.”
