James ‘Jim’ W. Marnich

Police officer was Mason, GC booster club officer


- — James “Jim” W. Marnich of Liberty Township (Slippery Rock) passed away at 8:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, in the emergency room of Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township. He was 54.

Mr. Marnich was born Sept. 29, 1959, in Pittsburgh.

Jim was a police officer in Stowe Township and in McKees Rocks, Allegheny County.

He was a member of St. Peter Parish, Slippery Rock.

Jim was active and served as the vice president of Grove City High School Boys Basketball Boosters. As a 32nd Degree Mason, he belonged to Free and Accepted Masons Lodge 603, Grove City.

His wife, the former Darlene Bonetti, whom he married June 8, 1996, survives at home.

Also surviving are two sons, Spencer Dorian Marnich and Trevor Furrie Marnich, both also at home; and his father- and mother-in law, Furrie and Dora Bonetti, Slippery Rock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Joanne Marnich.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Thursday (1-30-14) in St. Peter Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock, with the Rev. Kevin G. Poecking as celebrant.
