Volant woman was home health care provider


- — Amy Suzanne Johnston of Volant (Springfield Township) passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, in her residence due to natural causes. She was 50.

Ms. Johnston was born July 5, 1963, in New Castle to Carter Thomas and Roxann Kay Snezick Johnston.

She graduated from Wilmington Area High School and Lawrence County Vo-Tech in 1981.

Amy was a certified nursing assistant (CNA) and was a practicing home health care provider.

She enjoyed gardening and crafting. Most of all, Amy enjoyed spending time with family, friends and her animals.

Survivors include: her son, Logan Donald Gills, Mercer; her mother, Roxann Johnston, Volant; her father, Carter Johnston and his wife Beverly, Sharpsville; two sisters, Ruth Ellen Wagg and her husband Erik, Greeley, Colo.; and Wendy Kay Hilson and her husband John, Meadville; a niece, Chloe Hilson; and a nephew, Jack Hilson.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Carter Gills, who passed away Nov. 20, 2013.

Calling hours: Family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (1-29-14) and 10 a.m. to time of service Thursday (1-30-14) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME OF LEESBURG, 1778 Perry Highway, Springfield Township.

Service: Memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
