Helen E. Brain

GC-area homemaker was senior center volunteer


- — Helen E. Brain, a resident since 1964 of Liberty Township (Grove City), passed away at 8:40 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township. She was 95.

Mrs. Brain was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Stuttgart, Ark., to Albert F. and Emma Abel Heien.

A homemaker, she was of the Lutheran faith.

Helen was a volunteer for Grove City Senior Center for 20 years. She enjoyed making beautiful quilts that she gave for gifts to others and enjoyed her new-found friends at Dialysis Clinic Inc. in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township.

Her husband, Harold Brain, whom she married May 24, 1946, passed away Aug. 19, 1984.

Surviving are five children, Shirley Rodemoyer and her husband Donald, Grove City; Sandra Lyons, Marion, Ohio; Rebecca Barber and her husband Jeff, Grove City; Ronald Brain and his wife Roxanne, Kennerdell, Venango County; and Kenneth Brain and his wife Debbie, Grove City; and 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Carl Brain; a grandson, Dolph “Robbie” Lyons; two sisters, Esther Hewlett and Edna Schultz; and two brothers, Buck and Buddy Heien.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday (1-30-14) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Service: Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Friday (1-31-14) in the funeral home with the Rev. Willard Morse officiating.

Interment: Crestview Memorial Park Inc., Pine Township.
