Sharon woman enjoyed playing bingo, cards

- — A funeral service will be held Saturday for Lucy Ann Porter of Sharon. She passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by family at 3:43 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, after an extended illness. She was 87.

Mrs. Porter was born Dec. 13, 1926, in Sharpsville, a daughter of Gregorio and Philomena Ricci Ranelli.

She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, doing jigsaw puzzles, bowling, going on bus trips to casinos and spending time with her family. Mrs. Porter was of the Catholic faith.

Her husband, Claire William Porter, whom she married May 17, 1947, passed away Nov. 24, 2008.

She is survived by her six children, Richard Porter and his wife Fran, Sharon; Marilyn Amon, Hermitage; Linda Miklos and her husband Ron, Sharpsville; Luann Thull and her husband Greg, Winneconne, Wis.; George Porter and his wife Lisa, Sharon; and Raymond Porter and his wife Kay, Maricopa, Ariz.

She also leaves her 12 grandchildren, Scott Porter, Nicole Anglum, Mandy Richards, Pamela Fredericks and Rhonda Rickert; Jeremy, Clint and Kristine Thull; and Ryan Porter, Denise Rehorst and Shawn and Sabrina Porter; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Barber, Farrell; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Lucy was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Yolanda DelMonaco, Frances Viselli and Annie Costik; and three brothers, Rocco, Joseph and Domenick Ranelli.

Service: Funeral service at noon Saturday in the funeral home with the Rev. Terry Mann of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Sharon, officiating.

Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
