Air Force veteran worked for Westinghouse


- — BEAVER, Pa. – The world lost a fine soul with the passing of Daniel J. Evans of Beaver on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014. He was 82.

Dan was a man who relished every moment of his life; he radiated a joy that created many lasting friendships.

He was known for his tender heart and boundless generosity. At Christmas, he enjoyed handing out $100 bills to random strangers who he thought were in need.

He worked for United Airlines, Westinghouse and Control Concepts, and served in the Air Force.

He became a beloved father and grandfather when he married Ruth Ann Davis on May 28, 2006.

She survives, along with three children, Rachel (Bill) Kinser, Jeff (Lisa) Davis and Meg (Diana) Wheeler; seven grandchildren, Ethan Kinser; Matthew, Michael and Julia Davis; T.J., Coleman; and Max Wheeler; two sisters, Pat Evans and Joan Novotny; and two nephews, Jim Novotny and Gary (Marsha) Novotny; and a niece, Gale Novotny, all of California. Also surviving are his special friends and “brothers,” Nick Gervais, Bill Martz, Frank O’Stafy, Judge Peter Steege and The Lunch Bunch, with whom he spent many happy hours.

The family wishes to thank Mother Theresa Hospice for their loving and compassionate care of Dan.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Grace.
