Marie Baumgartner McConnell

Homemaker was active in Blue Star Mothers


- — Mrs. McConnell was born Dec. 2, 1916, in Passaic, N.J., a daughter of John and Emma Herman Baumgartner.

Mrs. McConnell was a homemaker.

She was a former president, charter member and life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6233, West Middlesex. She was also a former member and president of Blue Star Mothers Chapter 7 of West Middlesex and had served as Pennsylvania State Department president for Blue Star Mothers.

Marie was a former leader of 4-H Borderliners, Shenango Township.

Her husband, James E. McConnell, whom she married July 6, 1946, preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1981.

Mrs. McConnell is survived by: a daughter, Linnea M. Kuckelheim and her husband Garry, Chagrin Falls; a brother, Louis Baumgartner and his wife Sophie, Hermitage; a sister, Marge Baker, Farrell; and a grandson, James Kuckelheim, Columbus, Ohio.

Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Besides her husband, Marie was preceded in death by her parents; a son, John, in December 1971; two brothers, John and Joseph Baumgartner; and five sisters, Madeline Swetlech, Julia White, Helen Peternac, Rose Morris and Elizabeth Lochner.

Calling hours: Friends will be received from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday (2-2-14) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 3126 Main St., West Middlesex.

Service: Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Monday (2-3-14) in Church of the Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Road, West Middlesex, with Monsignor Robert M. Malene, pastor, as celebrant.

Interment: Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex.
