Lorraine Smoot-Stone

- — Mrs. Smoot-Stone was born Sept. 7, 1951, in Sharon, a daughter of Riley and Alice Robinson-Densmore Smoot.

She was a 1969 graduate of Farrell High School and dedicated her time and talents to various organizations in the Shenango Valley and throughout the country.

Lorraine was the founding member of the NFL Retired Players Association and was the chief executive officer of Verde Energy, an alternative energy company.

She was very active with the United Minority Contractors Union and designed the interior of the Boeing 747 airliner.

A member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Sharon, Lorraine served in the choir.

Her warm and caring spirit will be missed by those who knew and loved her.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her loving daughters, Arelette “Shell” Wilson and her husband Norman “Clay” Wilson III, and Lezlie Somerset-Pope, all Hermitage; her sister, Jean and her husband Wayne Green, and her brothers, Riley and his wife Cheryl Smoot, and Ren and his wife Carmen Smoot, all Farrell; her grandchildren, Brian Martin, Richmond, Va.; and Symone Somerset, Alonzo Scott and Jordann Wilson, all Hermitage; two special aunts, Frances Jackson, Farrell; and Mabel Eskew, Hubbard; her godson, Aaron Smoot, Pittsburgh; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and dear friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents and her godmother, Mary Watson.

Calling hours: Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to time of service Tuesday (2-4-14) in Bethlehem Baptist Church, 858 Wallis Ave., Sharon. Family will receive friends in Lorraine’s home, 225 Mercer Ave., Hermitage. Please visit to leave condolences or sign an online guestbook.

Service: Funeral celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the church with the Rev. Leon Avery Jr., pastor, officiating.
