William Fagan Brown

Pharmacist, avid golfer lived in New Wilmington

- — William Fagan Brown of New Wilmington went on to his next journey at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, in his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 59.

Mr. Brown was born July 31, 1954, in Steubenville, Ohio, a son of John V. and Jayne R. Fagan Brown.

He attended St. Paul’s Parochial Grade School and was a 1972 graduate of Madonna High School, both Weirton, W.Va. He matriculated to Marshall University, Huntington, W.Va., and was a 1980 alumnus of West Virginia University School of Pharmacy.

Bill was a pharmacist at Kmart in Hermitage for nine years and was previously employed by Greenwood Pharmacy in New Wilmington and Cressler’s Drug Store in Sandy Lake. He was always willing to go the extra mile in order to help his patrons.

Bill was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Camillus Church, New Castle.

An avid golfer, his favorite pastime was golfing with friends at Green Meadows Golf Course, Volant. He was a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates and West Virginia University Mountaineers.

Bill will be remembered by many for his unending goodness, his storytelling and wit, and will be dearly missed.

Surviving are: his loving wife, the former Billie Jean Reddinger, whom he married Oct. 27, 1984, in St. Paul’s Church, Weirton; a beloved son, Sean William Brown, a student at West Virginia University; a sister, Kathy “Bee” Fedak and her husband Richard, Royal Palm Beach, Fla.; and a brother, John V. “Butch” Brown Jr. and his wife Wendy, Punta Gorda, Fla.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15212; or Madonna High School, 150 Michael Way, Weirton, WV 26062.
