Semilda Josephine Thompson Jewell

- — MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – Semilda Josephine Thompson Jewell of Merritt Island, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, in Merritt Island, at the age of 91.

Mrs. Jewell was born Sept. 19, 1922, at the Mount Hickory farm in Sharpsville. After her marriage, she lived at the Jewell Daley Run Farm until moving to Florida in 2008.

She graduated in 1940 from Hickory High School, Hermitage.

Mrs. Jewell was very active in 4-H and served on the Mercer County Extension Board.

She was a longtime member of Charleston United Methodist Church, where she was the church organist and pianist for many years.

She is survived by her son, Raymond (Denise) Jewell Jr.; her daughter, Marilyn (Timothy) Bollo; her granddaughter, Melissa (Bill) Gross; her great-grandchildren, Maxwell and Holland; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. 

Mrs. Jewell was preceded in death by her parents, Howard C. and Semilda J. Thoman Thompson; her husband, Raymond S. Jewell Sr.; her daughter-in-law, Denise (Raymond Jr.) Jewell; and her brothers, Paul (Marjorie) Thompson and Delmont (Helen) Thompson. She also was proceeded in death by Clyde (Anna, Mary) Jewell; Thomas (Mabel) Jewell; August (Mildred) Jewell; Darrell (Atlanta) Jewell; Erma (Wilbert) Nickel; Twila (Carl) McLaughlin; and Ina (Darrell) Morrison.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice or Charleston United Methodist Church, 1169 Greenfield Road, Hermitage, PA 16148.
