Ardis Pridemore Knight

Postmaster, Penney’s employee was homemaker


- — Ardis Pridemore Knight of White Oak Road, Mercer, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday (2-8-14) in Select Specialty Hospital, within St. Joseph Hospital in Warren, Ohio. She was 80.

Mrs. Knight was born Aug. 9, 1933, in Branchton, Butler County, to Henry Raymond Hogg and Edna A. Hesselgesser Hogg Henry.

A homemaker, she was formerly the postmaster at Branchton Post Office and also worked for J.C. Penney Co. in Grove City.

Ardis was the oldest living member of Branchton United Methodist Church, where she belonged for more than 70 years.

She married Henry Eugene Knight Sr. on July 18, 1975.

Survivors include her husband, at home; a son, Scott Pridemore and his wife Nancy, Branchton; a stepdaughter, Terrie L. Cooper and her husband David, Grove City; a stepson, Henry “Hank” Knight Jr. and his wife Bonnie, Grove City; six grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sherry Mateer; and a brother, Harold Hogg, in 1948.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m Wednesday (2-12-14) in the funeral home.

Burial: Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
