JoAnn Champion of Stoneboro passed away at 5:17 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, in UPMC Passavant, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness. She was 73.
Born April 24, 1940, in Grove City, Mrs. Champion was a daughter of John A. and Fay E. Stubbs Lengauer.
She was a 1958 graduate of Lakeview High School.
Mrs. Champion worked for 17 years at Stoneboro Post Office, then retired in 2002 from Lakeview schools after 20 years of service at Oakview Elementary School.
She had been a member of Stoneboro Presbyterian Church.
JoAnn loved to play bingo and attend yard sales.
She enjoyed playing cards and, in early years, square dancing. She enjoyed country music and going to Ronnie McDowell concerts.
JoAnn loved family gatherings and cookouts and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a good visitor and loved talking to people.
Survivors include three daughters, Jolene Griffin and her husband James, Mercer; Charlene Spence and her husband Mark, Jackson Center; and Darlene Adams and her husband Wayne, Grove City; and six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Cindy Lou Champion; a great-granddaughter, Grace Hope Gadsby; and a sister, Fayetta Briggs.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family through the funeral home to help defray expenses.
