Ronald F. Crouser

PPG retiree, outdoorsman co-owned business


- — Ronald F. Crouser of Mill Creek Township, Sandy Lake, passed away at 7:27 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, in UPMC Horizon, Greenville, with family and friends by his side. He was 63.

Born March 16, 1950, in Meadville, Mr. Crouser was the son of Robert Frederick “Fritz” Crouser and Mary Lou Winwood Crouser.

He was a 1969 graduate of Lakeview High School.

In his early years, Ron worked at the Sinclair Service Station in Cochranton, then in the body shop at Walker Chevrolet, Sandy Lake. In 1970, he secured employment at PPG of Meadville and retired in 2012 after 42 years of service. Along with his wife, Margie, he owned and operated Crouser’s Drive-In of Mercer for more than 12 years.

He was a longtime member of New Lebanon Community Church and most recently attended Emmanuel Christian Church, Stoneboro.

Ron loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to camp in Andover, Ohio.

He was a member of Loyal Order of the Moose club, Meadville.

In his earlier years, he owned quarter horses and harness racing horses and raced at local fairs and at The Meadows.

Most of all, Ron was a family man and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved his time spent with all of them and will be sadly missed.

His wife, the former Margaret L. “Margie” Ernecoff, whom he married Oct. 4, 1969, survives at home..

Also surviving are his mother, Mary Lou, Sandy Lake; a daughter, Carrie L. Hogue and her husband Mark, Utica; a son, Robert E. Crouser and his wife Kara, Andover; six grandchildren, Logan, Aubrey and Landon Hogue, all Utica; and Ben, Nick and Ava Crouser, all Andover.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Service: Funeral and committal service at 11 a.m. Thursday (2-20-14) in the funeral home with Tim Clark, pastor of Emmanuel Christian Church, Stoneboro, officiating.

Interment: New Lebanon Cemetery, Mill Creek Township.
