A funeral service will be held Friday for Dawn L. Hicklin, a 40-year resident of 340 Superior St., Hermitage. She passed away at 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, under hospice care in Heritage Valley Health System, Beaver, Pa. She was 68.
Mrs. Hicklin was born June 28, 1945, in Sharon, a daughter of Lawrence “Shorty” and Martha Sass Hoffman.
She was a lifelong area resident and attended Brookfield High School.
Dawn had a strong faith in God and was an avid reader of the Bible. She also enjoyed listening to music, particularly Elvis Presley.
She will be remembered by her family as a kind-hearted wife, mother and grandmother who loved animals, particularly the many dogs she raised throughout the years.
Surviving are: her loving husband of 52 years, Charles A. Hicklin, whom she married Nov. 11, 1961; a daughter, Mary M. Westover and her husband Paul, Hubbard; two sons, Cecil G. Hicklin; and Julius A. Hicklin and his wife Renee, all Sharon; 10 grandchildren, Charles, Autumn, Bradley, Arthur, Roxanne, Everett, Jules, Lauren, Lindsay and Matt; and six great-grandchildren.
She also leaves two brothers, Doug Hoffman, Kentucky; and Clifford “Skip” Hoffman, Hermitage; and two sisters-in-law, Joanne Hoffman, Brookfield; and Nancy Hoffman, Sharpsville.
Mrs. Hicklin was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lawrence “Jr.” and Ralph Hoffman; a sister, Valerie Brooks; and a granddaughter, Nicole Lynn Hicklin.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Humane Society of Mercer County, Box 1046, Hermitage, PA 16148.
