Greenville woman retired as waitress at Paxton’s

- — Mrs. Brown was born Jan. 15, 1931, in Greene Township, Mercer County, to Raymond Albert and Erma Alice Owen Shartle.

Mable was a 1948 graduate of the former Pymatuning Joint Valley High School in Jamestown.

She worked at G.C. Murphy Co. from 1948-50; Westinghouse at Reynolds and Sharon from 1951-54; and as a waitress at Paxton’s in Greenville for 43 years, retiring in 1998.

She enjoyed collecting owl figurines, doing jigsaw puzzles, watching soap operas and spending time with her great-grandchildren. She also loved shopping and sitting outdoors, especially on her sun porch.

She was married to Robert Edward Brown on Aug. 11, 1978, who preceded her in death June 20, 1998.

Mable is survived by: a daughter, Roberta “Robbie” Shartle; and a stepson, Joel P. Brown, both Greenville; a stepdaughter, Pamela Sopher and her husband Rick, Titusville; a brother-in-law, Richard Finkbeiner, Mesa, Ariz.; nine granddaughters, Gidget Jablonski, Westford, Crawford County; Heidi Herrmann and her husband James, Transfer; Christy Shartle, Greenville; Heather Carson, Jessica Sopher and Courtney Sopher, all Titusville; Stacy Halt, Boardman, Ohio; Dana Brown, East Liverpool, Ohio; and Christine Reilly, Johnson City, Tenn.; four great-grandsons, Tye Jablonski, Westford; James Herrmann Jr., Transfer; Michael Canter Jr., Titusville; and Alden Jones, East Liverpool; and three great-granddaughters, Alicia Jablonski, Westford; Kaitlyn Herrmann, Transfer; and Brianna Canter, Titusville.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to her good friend, Linda Hoover.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Frank Shartle; a grandson; four sisters, Arlene Ralston, Leona Shartle, Edith Finkbeiner and Lucille Shartle; and three brothers, Mert Shartle, Jesse Shartle and Leroy Shartle.
