Philomena E. Novicky

Homemaker belonged to IHS Gospel Ministries

---- — Funeral services will be Friday for Philomena E. Novicky, Hnida Road, Shenango Township, who passed away at 4:40 p.m. Sunday (6-16-13) with family at her side in Nugent Convalescent Home, Hermitage. She was 94.

Philomena was born Dec. 26, 1918, to Juisepapse “Joseph” and Modesto Busicchio Sabella in Sharpsville.

Philomena was a homemaker.

In 1959, Philomena married Joseph J. Novicky, who passed away in 1989. She subsequently married Andrew Olshavsky, who passed away in 2012.

She was a member of IHS Gospel Ministries Hermitage. She was a former member of the senior club at First Assembly of God in Hermitage and was a former member of Lebanon Presbyterian Woman’s Association.

Philomena enjoyed sewing, reading, and baking cookies for Habitat for Humanity.

Philomena is survived by: four daughters, Mrs. Donna Holter of West Middlesex; the Rev. Rita (Robert) Staul of Glouster, Va.; Rexine A. Novicky of Salem, Ohio; and Helen (John) Chupa of Canfield, Ohio; a son, Andrew J. (Jean) Olshavsky, Titusville, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands; two sisters, Eleanor Palombi and Josephine Conti; and three brothers, Joseph, Anthony and James Sabella; a granddaughter, Rita Rice; and a great-grandson, Kalem Crompton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rita Rice Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of the Shenango Valley Foundation,  7 W. State St., Sharon, PA 16146 or Donna Holter.

Service: Funeral services at 10 a.m. Friday (6-21-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Eckles, pastor of IHS Gospel Ministries, officiating. Assisting will be Philomena’s daughter, the Rev. Rita Staul.

Burial: Haywood Cemetery, West Middlesex.
