---- — Beatrice Elaine Dollman Barkley passed away quietly at 10:55 a.m. on the first morning of summer, June 21, 2013, in her Mercer home after a brief battle with cancer. She was 75.

She was surrounded by her loving children and family and will be sadly missed.  

Bea was born Oct. 3, 1937, in Mercer to Wilson “Bill” and Margery Dollman, who preceded her in death.

She loved her family and devoted her life to them. She was a full-time wife, mother and homemaker and worked outside the home as a domestic servant for several area families.

She will also be sadly missed by her dog King, who was her companion.

She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking for her family.

Bea was a member of Free Methodist Church in Mercer.

Bea is survived by: her daughters, Suzanne Barkley of Mercer and her fiancé Bob Husband; and Maryellen Porterfield and her husband Frank in Sharpsville; a son, Scott Barkley and his wife Dorothy of Mercer; two sisters, Alice Goldhart and her husband Robert of Greenville; and Amelia Hosack and her husband Robert of Mercer; and a brother, Charles Dollman of Sharon.

Also surviving are: several nieces and nephews; 10 grandchildren, Michelle Barkley, Larry Barkley, Chad Barkley, Myron Bundrant, Melissa Layman, Chelsea Barkley, Tanner Barkley, Harmony Barkley, Ty Porterfield, and Tera Porterfield; seven great-grandchildren, Alex Barkley, Brittany Layman, Tyler Layman, Matthew Barkley, Mya and Marley Bundrant and Izaiah Barkley.

A daughter-in-law, Iva Barkley, of Confluence, Pa., also survives.

In addition to her parents, Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald A. Barkley, whom she married Jan. 9, 1954, and who passed away Feb. 23, 1999.

She was also preceded in death by her son, Lawrence “Larry” Barkley, who died March 24, 2005; a grandson, Zachary Porterfield, who passed away on Dec. 19, 2012; a sister, Ellen Thompson; and an infant daughter.

Bea was loving and loved by all who knew her. They will miss her kind smile, her warm conversation and her gentle laugh.
