Karl F. Moore Jr.

1976 BHS grad, Burghill man was carpet installer

---- — Karl F. Moore Jr., of Burghill, passed away at 2:12 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2013, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System following a sudden illness. He was 54.

Mr. Moore was born in Sharon on June 18, 1959, a son to Karl F. Moore Sr. and Betty (Voyda) Moore-Mortimer.

A 1976 graduate of Brookfield High School, he was proud to serve his country in the Army.

Following his discharge, he worked with his father laying carpet. Eventually, he became a self-employed carpet installer, working more than 20 years at Moore’s Carpets before he set down his carpet stretcher for the last time. He had also laid carpet for Knott’s Interiors.

In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle; working his Sudoku puzzles, crosswords and picture puzzles; taking road trips; going to the Jamboree in the Hills; listening to country music, especially Hank Williams Jr.; sitting on the front porch drinking his hazelnut coffee; and cheering on his Cleveland Browns.

Survivors include his mother, Betty, Burghill; two daughters, Stephanie Moore, Lexington, Ky.; and Hanna Rose Moore, Hubbard; his sister, Debra Schuller and her husband Larry, Mercer; two grandsons, Benjamin Moore and Caden Horne; his maternal grandmother, Ann Voyda, Hermitage; two uncles, Charles Voyda, Ebensburg, Pa.; and Robert Voyda and his wife Gail, Burghill; three nephews, Jeremy and Justin Moore, and Larry “Goob” Schuller Jr.; his great-nephew and “sidekick” Landon Moore; his stepsister, Vicki Cathcart, Sharon; and his companion, Donna McConnell and her children, Sara and Joshua.

Ira was preceded in death by his father; his brother, Gary Moore; his paternal grandparents, William and Goldie Moore; his maternal grandfather, Charles Voyda; his stepfather, Clayton “Steve” Mortimer; an uncle, William Moore; and an aunt, Shirley Grow.

Calling hours: A time of gathering will be held from 5 p.m. to time of service Monday (6-24-13) in Karl’s honor at BRICELAND FUNERAL HOME, 379 state Route 7, S.E., Brookfield.

Service: Celebration of life service at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. 330-509-3135.

Burial: Hillcrest Memorial Park, Hermitage.
