A funeral service will be held Friday for Cynthia Ann Solyan of Sharon. She passed away unexpectedly at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, in her home. She was 53.
Miss Solyan was born Dec. 15, 1959, Sharon to Nicholas and Rosetta Cameron Solyan.
Cynthia graduated in 1977 from Hickory High School, Hermitage. She continued her education by receiving a bachelor of science degree in biology from the University of Pittsburgh, then attended Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, Tenn., for three years.
While at Pitt, she received a scholarship for four years in gymnastics and traveled throughout the United States.
As a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Sharon, Cynthia belonged to St. John’s food pantry. She helped with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed planting flowers around the church with her father. She also enjoyed knitting.
Surviving are: her father, Hermitage; a sister, Diane Solyan, Los Angeles; a brother, David Solyan and his wife Angela, Columbus, Ohio; a niece, Ashley Solyan, Philadelphia; and a nephew, Brad Solyan, Pittsburgh.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother.
