Robert Arthur Graham

Truck driver belonged to Masonic, veterans groups


---- — A funeral service will be held Thursday for Robert Arthur Graham of Hermitage, who passed away peacefully Monday morning, Oct. 7, 2013, in his residence after an extended illness. He was 88.

Mr. Graham was born Oct. 1, 1925, in Torrance, Westmoreland County, a son of Clyde William and Nellie Mae Clawson Graham.

He attended Derry (Pa.) schools and moved to Hermitage in the early 1970s.

Mr. Graham was a truck driver all of his life, working for various companies throughout his career. He was employed for 16 years at the former Cooper-Jarrett Trucking Co. and retired from Trans Logistics, which transported merchandise for Kmart, after eight years of service.

He was a former member of Derry Presbyterian Church and attended Faith Presbyterian Church, Hermitage.

Bob was a member of Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge 406 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5821, both Blairsville; Free and Accepted Masons; Scottish Rite’s Pittsburgh consistory; the Shriners of North America, Syria Shrine Temple, Cheswick, Pa.; American Legion Post 299, Sharon; and the Masonic Breakfast Club, Poland, Ohio.

He served as a sub tender for the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific theater of operations.

His wife, the former Mavis Ruth Himler, whom he married March 1, 1957, passed away Dec. 30, 2011.

Surviving are: three daughters, Gay Ann Miller, New Wilmington; Susan Elaine Trenga and her husband Carmine, Brookfield; and Lori Fay Province and her husband Albert “Bert,” Farrell; two sons, Robert Daniel Graham and his wife Julie, Masury; and James Edward Graham and his companion Susan Alt, Lima, Ohio; a sister, Velma Fay Crawford, Blairsville; 11 grandchildren, Amanda Dias, Jamie Graham, Carlie and Katie Trenga; Mariah Graham; Billie, Shelby and Jessica Province; Lauren Ohl, Miranda Derr and Lacey Ohl; and three great-grandchildren, Alexa Kantner, and Auna and Lainey Dias.

He also leaves sisters- and brothers-in-law, Fay L. Pierdominici and her husband Victor; Isabelle J. Kohuth and her husband William; Kay M. Kollar; and Constance “Connie” J. Shrader, all Latrobe, Pa.; Linda G. Del Costello, Circleville, Ohio; Amber Jean “Jeanne” Sobota and her husband William, Myrtle Beach, S.C.; and Betty Himler, New Alexandria, Pa.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, William “Bill” Miller; and a brother-in-law, Russell Crawford.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Thursday (10--10-13) in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Stephen K. Stelle, pastor of Faith Presbyterian Church, Hermitage, officiating.

Interment: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honors rendered by the West Middlesex VFW, the Wheatland American Legion and the Farrell VFW Honor Guard.
