John ‘Jack’ E. ‘Gizmo’ Buynak

Sharpsville man, fire units member owned business

---- — A funeral service will be held Saturday for John “Jack” E. “Gizmo” Buynak of Eighth Street, Sharpsville. He passed away at 1:31 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, surrounded by his loving family in UPMC Horizon, Farrell. He was 80.

Mr. Buynak was born Sept. 16, 1932, in Farrell.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Sharpsville, where he was involved in its choir and administrative council.

Jack was a lifetime member of Sharpsville Volunteer Fire/Rescue Department and South Pymatuning Volunteer Fire Company. He was a charter member of Sharpsville Optimist Club, along with the Lock Stock Coffee Club.

Jack owned and operated his own business, Jack’s carburetor shop in Sharpsville.

He was a board representative for Sharpsville Borough for the American Disabilities Act Committee. As an avid race car fan and a former championship driver, his current favorite driver was Carl Edwards. He enjoyed NASCAR and racing in general.

In his younger years, he was on the board for Boy Scout Troop and Girl Scout Troop 7 in Sharpsville.

He enjoyed fishing, building models and painting Christmas ceramics for his family and friends for more than 25 years.

He was a citizen’s band radio enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Ginny Knappenberger; his children, James Buynak and his wife Barbara; Jodie White and her husband Tully; ,Jacci Yarabinec and her fiancé Jamie Stafford; and John L. Buynak and his wife Cindy; his grandchildren, Brandon Boles and his wife Debbie; Joshua Buynak and his fiancée Stacey; Jesse Boles and his wife Kayla; and Aiyana and Johnathan Buynak; and his great-grandchildren, Brianna and Tyler Boles, plus two more expecting to be born.

He also leaves a sister, Margaret Cameron, Hermitage; a foster granddaughter, Jamie Sell and her husband Dan; foster grandsons, Mike, Austin and Gage Sell; a godson, Robert Jones, Sharpsville; his lifetime friend, Walter “Bud” Cochran; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous “yother” kids.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret S. Victor Buynak; a son, John E. Buynak Jr.; his stepfather, Samuel B. Love; and a sister-in-law, Donna Sheldon.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorial contributions be made in Jack’s memory to the Endowment Fund of First United Methodist Church, 148 E. Shenango St., Sharpsville, PA 16150.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday (4-20-13) in First United Methodist Church, Sharpsville, with the Rev. William Locke, pastor of Charleston and Clark Trinity United Methodist churches, officiating. Everyone is to meet at the church on Saturday for services.

Interment: Cremation will take place.
