Raymond M. Dunn of Transfer passed away peacefully of natural causes at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday (4-17-13) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 88.
Mr. Dunn was born July 30, 1924, in Sharon, a son of Michael J. and Alma Wilhelm Dunn.
A lifelong area resident, he graduated from Sharon High School.
Mr. Dunn retired in 1984 from the former Westinghouse Electric Corp. with 42 years of service. While at Westinghouse, he worked in its Sharon and Camp Reynolds plants as a core cutter and group leader.
He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Church, Sharon, and belonged to Knights of Columbus Council 684, also Sharon, since the age of 18.
He collected model trains and admired the old steam engines of the past. Ray enjoyed a good round of golf, as well as playing cards and cruising with his grandchildren.
His wife, the former Mariam A. Mikota, whom he married Oct. 19, 1946, survives at home.
He is also survived by his son, Raymond Patrick Dunn and his wife Pamela, Transfer; three daughters, Paulette L. Young and her husband Robert; Rosemary A. Lehman and her husband David; and Cynthia L. Dunn, all Greenville; a sister, Bonita M. Niemiec and her husband John, Niles, Ohio; two brothers, Donald J. Dunn, Ellicott City, Md.; and Gerald F. Dunn and his wife Arlene, Sharon; a sister-in-law, Helen S. Dunn, Hermitage; and a brother-in-law, James L. Roberts, Sharpsville.
He also leaves seven grandchildren, Renee Gearhart, Rhonda Bowman, Randi Richards, Richelle Dunn, Michelle Young, Tom Limber III and Lorrie Lehman; and seven great-grandchildren, Tyler, Gage, Haley, Logan, Morgan, Brette and Ross.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Albert J. Dunn, and an infant, Richard Dunn; a sister, Aneita Roberts; and a sister-in-law, Helene Dunn.
