Outdoorsman retired from Universal Rundle


---- — Dale C. Hennon passed away the morning of July 30, 2013, in Orchard Manor, Grove City. He was 94.

He was born Aug. 30, 1918, in New Castle to Clarence and Mary Ellen Kelley Hennon.

On Dec. 24, 1938, he married the former Doris Williams.

He served as a first sergeant for the U.S. Army and retired in 1982 as a kiln operator for Universal Rundle.

He was a member of Hoover Heights Christian Missionary Alliance Church. Dale also served as a member of the Shenango Area School Board in Lawrence County for 34 years.

He was an avid outdoorsman and loved golfing and bowling.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by: a daughter, Doris Ketzel and her husband Lee, Grove City; a son, Jeff Hennon and his wife Jill, New Wilmington; a granddaughter, R. Kelly Smith and her husband Brendan; and great-grandchildren, Torin and Dalee Smith.

Besides his parents, Dale was preceded in death by a son, Dale A. Hennon; a grandson, Randall L. Ketzel; brothers, Clyde and Arthur Hennon; and a sister, Velma Pyle.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his honor to Orchard Manor Alzheimer’s Unit, 20 Orchard Drive, Grove City, PA 16127.

Service: Memorial service at 1 p.m. Saturday in the church, with the Rev. Larry Llewellyn, pastor of Hoover Heights Christian Missionary Alliance Church, and the Rev. Thomas Williams, deceased’s brother-in-law, officiating.

Burial: Arrangements by Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. New Castle.
