Mildred J. Coleman

Farrell housewife was First Baptist member


---- — A funeral service will be held Saturday for Mildred J. Coleman of 716 Beechwood Ave., Farrell. She passed away at 10 a.m. Sunday (8-11-13) in her home. She was 78.

Mrs. Coleman was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Greenville, Ala., to the Rev. Frank Gary and Lizza Marlowe Gary.

She attended Barberton (Ohio) High School.

As a member of First Baptist Church in Farrell, Mrs. Coleman served on the kitchen committee, as a janitor and on the young women’s missionary group of the church.

Mildred was a housewife and enjoyed gardening.

Her husband, George B. Coleman, whom she married in 1970, preceded her in death Oct. 3, 1976.

She is survived by: four daughters, Mrs. Nehemiah (Laura Jean) Irby, Mirian, Miss.; Mrs. Ivory (Yvonne Diane) Barnett, Hermitage; Mrs. Andrew (Patricia) Cheeseboro, McDonald, Pa.; and Mrs. Timothy (Rosemary) Williamson, Centreville, Va.; a son, Wayne E. Chaney and his wife Venita, Atlanta; a brother, C.W. Gary, Greenville, Ala.; and 20 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Marquette Gary and Clarine Mayberry; and two brothers, Sylvester and Abraham Gary.

Service: Funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday (8-17-13) in First Baptist Church, 1120 Darr Ave., Farrell, with the Rev. C. Nolan Howell, pastor, officiating.

Burial: Morefield Cemetery, Hermitage.
