Former Hermitage woman had worked at banks

---- — CONNEAUTVILLE, Pa. -- Virginia R. Kelsey Godfrey of Conneautville, formerly of Hermitage, passed away at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, in Rolling Hills Nursing Home, after an extended illness. She was 87 years old.

Mrs. Godfrey was born Aug. 13, 1926, in New Haven, Conn., to her parents, Howard Kelsey and Mildred Katz Kelsey.

She graduated from Hamden (Conn.) High School, then worked in commercial banking in New Haven.

On Sept. 8, 1948, Virginia married her husband, Donald Godfrey in Hamden. Later, after they moved to the Shenango Valley, Mrs. Godfrey worked for the former McDowell National Bank.

She was a member of Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage.

Mrs. Godfrey is survived by a son, Dr. Craig Godfrey, Meadville; a daughter, Robin Godfrey, Pittsburgh; and two grandsons, Brent Godfrey and Drew Godfrey, both Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald, who passed away in 1991.

Service: Funeral service at 10 a.m. Saturday (8-17-13) in the chapel of Oakwood Cemetery, 600 N. Oakland Ave., Sharon, with the Rev. David S. Evans, pastor of Hickory United Methodist Church, Hermitage, officiating.

Burial: Oakwood Cemetery.
