Ina Imogene ‘Gene’ Wallwork

GC-area centenarian kept house, was Pirates fan


- — Ina Imogene “Gene” Wallwork, formerly of Patterson School Road, Worth Township, passed away after a brief illness at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, in Orchard Manor, Pine Township, where she was a resident since 2006. She was 101.

Mrs. Wallwork was born Jan. 1, 1912, in Marion Township, Butler County, to Frank Leon Eaton and Ina Emily Surrena Eaton.

She was a homemaker and was a housekeeper for several families in the Grove City area.

She was of the Protestant faith. Gene was a Pittsburgh Pirates fan and enjoyed playing cards.

Her husband, John Thomas Wallwork, whom she married March 7, 1936, passed on Jan. 22, 1991.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Himes and her husband Donald, Grove City; two grandchildren, Dana Roman and her husband Steven, Grove City; and Timothy Himes and his wife Geri, Titusville; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylyn and Cheyanne Himes, both Grove City.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Laura Eaton, Mary Phipps, Clementina Ferguson, Myrtle Bennett and Mable Hanna; and six brothers, Leon, Albert “Pete,” George, Alton, Frank and James Waldo Eaton.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Calling hours: 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday (12-15-13) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Service: Funeral service at 11 a.m. Monday (12-16-13) in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Terry West of Harrisville Branch Church officiating.

Interment: Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
