Notre Dame member volunteered at Villa Maria

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio — A funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday for Mildred F. Palanti, formerly of Farrell, Hermitage and Villa Maria, Pa. She passed from this life at 10 a.m. Friday (12-13-13) in Humility House in Austintown. She was 94.

Mrs. Palanti was born Sept. 5, 1919, in Farrell to Ned J. and Frances Belcik Turzak.

She was a graduate of Farrell High School class of 1937.

Mildred had lived in Farrell until the late 1950s, when she moved to Hermitage. Later in life, she resided in Villa Maria Apartments in Lawrence County. While living in Villa Maria, she was an associate of the Sisters of Humility of Mary and did volunteer work at the Villa.

Mildred belonged to Church of Notre Dame in Hermitage, where she was a former member of its Ave Marie Society.

Mildred is survived by: two daughters, Frances and her husband Thomas Papa, Hubbard; and Roberta and her husband Dean Kukol, Denton, Texas; and two sons, Martin Palanti and Lynn, Hermitage; and Robert Palanti and his wife Lisa, West Melbourne, Fla. She leaves 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A stepsister, Betty Borawski, survives in Hermitage.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Magdalene C. Priester; a brother, Thomas Turzak; and a stepsister, Eleanor Davidson.

Mildred’s family wishes to thank the staffs of Villa apartments and Paisley House in Youngstown for the loving care she received while she lived in those facilities; and Humility of Mary Sisters, Hospice of the Valley and the entire staff of Humility House for their exceptionally patient and loving care the last three years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humility House, 755 Ohltown Road, Austintown, OH 44515-1075.

Service: Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the church with the Rev. Monsignor Edward J. Zeitler, associate pastor, as celebrant.

Entombment: St. Rose Cemetery Mausoleum, Hermitage.
