Tamela ‘Tami’ Sanitate Hartwick

Paralegal was gardener, crafter, yoga instructor


- — Funeral services are Tuesday for Tamela “Tami” Sanitate Hartwick, 54, of Sharpsville. She passed away at 10:30 a.m. Jan. 9, 2014, in her home following a brief battle with cancer.

She was born April 25, 1959, to James R. Smith and Verna Dene George in Clarksburg, W.Va.

Tamela graduated from Hickory High School, class of 1977, after which she earned her associate’s degree.

Tamela married Alan A. Sanitate in 1984.

She worked as a paralegal for Attorney Joann M. Joffrey.

Tamela married her husband Paul Hartwick in 2006; he survives at home.

Tamela was a yoga instructor, avid gardener and very creative with craft projects. She loved spending special time with her grandson Jackson.

Tamela is survived by her husband Paul; her daughter, Allison Nicole Sanitate and her fiancé Stephen Speicher; her son, Paul Edward Sanitate; her father, James R. Smith; her mother, Verna Dene George; her brother, James R. Smith; her first husband, Alan A. Sanitate; and her grandson, Jackson Paul Smith. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Bill George; and a brother-in-law, Richard Hartwick.
