Mr. Hamder was born June 5, 1980, in Sharon, the son of Peter Hamder Jr. and Maria Oleskey Hamder.
A 1998 graduate of Sharpsville High School, he was proud to have been part of the 1997 Sharpsville Football state title team. Josh was currently a senior at Youngstown State University, where he was a political science major.
He was honored to serve his country in the 148th Infantry Regiment of the Ohio National Guard. Over his six years of service, he was deployed for one year to Selfridge Air Force Base in Michigan, when 9/11 occurred, he was also deployed to the Louisiana Superdome where he assisted the residents impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
Mr. Hamder was employed out of Labor Union Local 125 as a mason tender in the construction industry.
Joshua was of the Catholic faith. He was a member of Free and Accepted Masons Copper Penny Lodge 778 in Vienna.
Mr. Hamder was an avid weightlifter and was highly knowledgeable about the sport. He enjoyed hunting, football, watching movies, especially documentaries, and was passionate about his country and politics. Josh truly loved everyone and from the moment he met you, he became your friend.
Surviving are: his mother, Maria and her husband Bruce Shaffer, Brookfield; his father, Peter Hamder Jr.; his maternal grandmother, Barbara Oleskey; and maternal grandfather, Pius Oleskey Jr., all Hermitage; grandmother, Katherine Shaffer, Brookfield; and six aunts and uncles, Monica and her husband Lou Monaco, Allentown, Pa.; Barbara and her husband Tom Sitar, Sharon; Geralyn and her husband John Jurko, Yankee Lake; Missy and her husband Gerry Mensurati, Brookfield; Pius Oleskey and his wife Rochelle, Seattle, Wash.; and Dale Shaffer and his wife Kathy, Brookfield. He is also survived by numerous cousins.
Joshua was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alice and Peter Bilich; and a grandfather, Bruce Shaffer.

Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery, Hermitage, with military honors rendered by Veterans of Foreign Wars West Middlesex Post 6233 and American Legion Post 432, Wheatland.
