James Nelson Davis of Shenango Township passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, Aug. 7, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, in the company of his children and grandchildren after a sudden illness. He was 82.
Mr. Davis was born July 20, 1931, in Wheatland to Mark and Florence Covington Davis.
On Aug. 18, 1951, he married Julia Marie Abate, and they would have celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary this month. They were the parents of four children and two grandchildren. Mrs. Davis survives at Nugent Convalescent Home in Hermitage.
Mr. Davis was a graduate of Farrell High School and retired from the former Sharon Steel Corp.’s Farrell plant after 44 years of employment.
He was a member of First Assembly of God, Hermitage.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed watching his grandson, Jason, play Little League baseball and football.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by: his daughter, Cynthia Davis and her husband James Douds, Sharon; and his three sons, James N. Davis II and his wife Beth, Colombia, Md.; Michael R. Davis, Las Vegas; and Jason M. Davis and his wife Lori, West Middlesex. Also surviving are his grandson, Jason M. Davis II, and his granddaughter, Kara Moore, both West Middlesex.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Alice M. Davis Snyder. He is survived by another sister, Joan Eckles and her husband Charles Eckles, Hermitage; and a brother, Mark Davis and his wife Lynda, New Springfield, Ohio.
