David Lynn McConnell

1978 Lakeview grad, Air Force vet worked for Delta

---- — David Lynn McConnell of Peachtree City, Ga., formerly of Mercer County, passed away Sunday (8-11-13). He was 53.

He was born Jan. 24, 1960 in Greenville.

In 1978, he graduated from Lakeview High School, Sandy Lake Township, and then went on to graduate from Slippery Rock University in 1982.  

He served as a captain in the Air Force as a C-141 and 737 aircraft commander.  

Mr. McConnell joined Delta Airlines in 1990 as a first officer on the MD-88 and later as a flight simulator instructor.  

He had many hobbies including hiking, photography, traveling, radio control airplanes, singing karaoke, playing guitar and the theater.

He is survived by his wife, Esther McConnell; his parents, Rodney and Lois McConnell, Muncie, Ind.; his children, Ryan McConnell and his wife Shawna, Newburyport, Mass.; and Casey McConnell, Peachtree City; a stepson, Ethan Lillemoe, Norcross, Ga.; stepdaughters, Sarah Davenport and her husband Kelley, Newnan, Ga.; Rachel Lillemoe, Carrollton, Ga.; sisters, Bonnie Carothers and her husband Daniel, Mercer; Linda Masters and her husband Brian, Sharpsville; brothers, Terry McConnell and his wife Diane, Hermitage; and Edward  McConnell and his wife Amy, Sharpsburg, Pa.; stepgrandchildren, Charlie, Hannah and Lilly; eight nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces.
