James John Couper, Mercer, passed away at 5:35 a.m. Thursday, March 14, 2014, at Compassion Care Center, Mount Lebanon, Pa. He was 78.
James was born April 2, 1935, in Fair Oaks, a son of Thomas D. Couper and Mary Jane Holland Couper.
He was retired from Mercer Forge.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bonnie (Welder) Couper; a daughter, Sherry (Mrs. Bill) Pfeiffer, Monaca, Pa.; a son, David, Akron, Ohio; a daughter, Laura (Mrs. Mike) Eutsey, Akron, Ohio; a daughter, Carrie (Mrs. Brahim) Menkari, Marlborough, Mass.; and two brothers, Tom Couper, Sewickley, Pa.; and Jerry Couper, New Brighton, Pa.; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
He may never have won the lottery, even though he never stopped trying, but he won big time in the Jackpot of Life. He had friends, family, love, compassion, joy and peace. May thoughts of him continue to bring smiles to those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers and because of the wonderful care he received, the family is requesting donations be made to Center for Compassionate Care, Family Hospice Development Dept., 50 Moffet St., Pittsburgh, PA 15243
