Michael Joseph Hunter

Hermitage man owned security business

- — Michael Joseph Hunter of Hermitage went home to be with the Lord at 11:20 p.m. Friday (3-14-14). He died unexpectedly in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System. He was 55.

Mr. Hunter was born Nov. 3, 1958 in Sharon, a son of Charles Hunter and Sadie (Stafford) Hunter.

Michael graduated from Hickory High School in 1976, then attended Penn State Shenango and in 1980 he graduated from Sharon Regional School of Nursing as a registered nurse.

He worked for Sharon Regional and then became the vice president of Kilgore Detective Agency and Security Services, Inc. where they operated in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Florida. Michael also was a licensed private detective in New York.

Michael was a former school board member for the Victory Christian School in Kinsman for three years when his children were younger. He was a member of the First Assembly of God Church, Hermitage. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Europe and Switzerland where he visited friends in Zofingen, Switzerland. But most of all he enjoyed spending time with his children, granddaughter and family.

He is survived by: his wife, Barbara (Kilgore) Hunter at home, whom he married June 30, 1981; a daughter, Erika Hunter, Hermitage; a son, Isaiah Hunter, New York City; his mother, Sadie (Stafford) Hunter, Hermitage; a brother, Charles “Skip” Hunter II, Sharpsville; a granddaughter, Shilon Camp; five nieces, Valorie Bernard and her husband Victor, Hubbard; Vicki Shultz and her husband Jeff, Hermitage; Dawn Pisporius and her husband Rich, Hermitage; Heather Melott and her husband Bill, Hermitage; Holly Rager and her husband Will, Long Beach, Miss.; a nephew, Matthew Hunter, Hermitage.               

He was preceded in death by his father and his sister-in-law, Harriet Hunter.
