Myrtle Rio

Woman belonged to vets, business women’s groups


- — Myrtle Rio, 494 Stambaugh Ave., Sharon, died at 8 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2014, of natural causes. She was 92.

Mrs. Rio was born July 31, 1921, in Sharpsville, a daughter of Courtney O’Connor of Ireland and Ella Womer O’Connor of Sharpsville.

Myrtle attended Sharpsville High School and was of the Baptist faith.

She was a member of the American Business Women’s Association and the American Veterans Association and was active with the Republican party.

She married Joseph G. Rio on July 21, 1946.

Surviving are: three sons, Gerald Rio and his wife Rebeccah, Goodyear, Ariz.; Robert Rio, Casselberry, Fla.; and Joseph Rio, Lubbock, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, four brothers and two daughters-in-law.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
