SALEM, Ohio -- Velma M. Rouse, a resident for seven years of Salem, formerly of Grove City, passed away at 8:50 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014, in Blossom Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Salem. She was 97.
Mrs. Rouse was born Jan. 15, 1917, in Harrisville, Butler County, to Ozro Delos Allison and Lilias Loretta McMurry Allison.
She was a homemaker and formerly worked in the cafeteria of Slippery Rock High School.
Mrs. Rouse was a member of Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Harrisville.
Throughout her life, Velma was a caregiver to many.
Her husband, George E. Rouse, whom she married May 22, 1940, passed on June 1, 2012.
Survivors include: three children, Janet L. Buchanan and her husband Wayne, Salem; Valjean McClymonds, Valencia, Pa.; and Richard E. Rouse, Boyers; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and a sister.

Service: Funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Interment: New Hope Cemetery, Cherry Township, Butler County.
