Myrna Jane Shaner

Nazarene church member worked in school cafeteria


---- — Myrna Jane Shaner of Hermitage passed away at 3:50 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at her residence in Hermitage. She was 82.

Mrs. Shaner was born Oct. 26, 1930, in Sharon to James and Chloie Gilliland Mitcheltree.

Myrna graduated from Sharon High School and worked in the cafeteria at Hermitage schools.

Mrs. Shaner was a member of Sharpsville Church of the Nazarene, where she was very active.

She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, gardening, camping and fishing.

On June 5, 1952, she married Samuel J. Shaner, who survives at home.

Besides her loving husband, Samuel, Myrna is survived by: a daughter, Elaine C. and her husband Henry Rice, Lordstown, Ohio; two sons, Samuel Wayne Shaner, Jackson Center; and Steven R. Shaner, Sharon; a sister, Sandra Glass, Asheville, N.C.; a brother, David Mitcheltree and his wife Lois, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Bernard Mitcheltree; her mother, Chloie Mitcheltree; and a brother, James Mitcheltree.
