Joyce Ann Ritenour

Kennametal retiree, Grace U.M. member was novelist


---- — Joyce Ann Ritenour, a resident since 1980 of Coolspring Township (Mercer), passed away at 1:50 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2013, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a two-year illness. She was 79.

Ms. Ritenour was born May 4, 1934, in Pine Township to Esley S. and Nora Elizabeth Buchanan Bollinger.

Joyce was a graduate of Grove City High School, class of 1954.

She retired in 1980 from Kennametal Corp. of Slippery Rock, where she was an inspector for 20 years.

Joyce was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City.

She was a creative writer and had written more than six novels throughout her life. Joyce enjoyed gardening and photography.

Surviving are two sons, Randall T. Ritenour, Mercer; and Daniel “Dan” C. Ritenour and his wife Melanie, Grove City; a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Brumbaugh, Greer, S.C.; four grandchildren, Jason A. Ritenour, Caleb J. Ritenour, Ethan J. Ritenour and Adasia A. Ritenour; and a great-grandson, Gage Ritenour.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joseph Esley Ritenour; two sisters, Dorothy Dennis and Helen Porter; and five brothers, William “Flip” Bollinger, Gilbert Bollinger, Edward Bollinger, John “Jack” Bollinger and Robert “Bob” Bollinger.

Calling hours: 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday (5-9-13) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Service: Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Friday (5-10-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. Howard A. Greenfield, senior pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, Grove City, officiating.

Interment: Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
