Cook at truck stop, club was homemaker, bowler

---- — Doris J. Wilson of Grove City passed away at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 15, 2013, in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township, after an extended illness. She was 79.

Ms. Wilson was born Sept. 12, 1933, in Grove City to Arthur C. Garner and Mary Ann Zupen Garner.

Doris was a cook for many years at Truck Stops of America, Barkeyville; and at Grove City Country Club.

A homemaker, she was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed bowling, participating in various leagues in Grove City.

Doris was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates fan.

Surviving are six children, Susan Hinton and her husband Ken, Mercer; John Wilson, Grottoes, Va.; and Michael Wilson; Andrew Wilson and Joan McDowell; Keith Wilson and his wife Linda; and Dana Wilson, all Grove City; 11 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson; and her former husband, Dale Wilson, Grove City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Rickey Wilson, in 2009; and three brothers, Robert, Donald and John Garner.

Calling hours: 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today (5-16-13) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.

Service: Funeral service at 2 p.m. Friday (5-17-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Schwartz, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, Findley Township, officiating.

Interment: Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
