Jacob ‘Jake’ Russel French

2012 Brookfield grad was working as welder

- — Jacob “Jake” Russel French of Brookfield passed away unexpectedly from an aneurysm of his coronary artery at 6:59 p.m. Saturday, March 22, 2014, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System. He was only 19.

Mr. French was born April 18, 1994, in Warren, Ohio, a son to Russel Paul and Lori Beth Mackey French.

A 2012 graduate of Brookfield High School, he furthered his education by attending Trumbull County Technical and Career Center, Warren, where he studied welding.

He found employment as a welder for McDonald (Ohio) Steel and Alloy and had recently been hired by Legacy in Brookfield.

Jake was a member of Brookfield United Methodist Church.

In his spare time, he enjoyed any outdoor sports, especially snowboarding, hunting, fishing and riding dirt bikes. He also loved weightlifting.

Survivors include: his parents; his brothers, Zachary M. French and his girlfriend Brittany; and Perry N. French; and his paternal grandparents, Denny and Kathy French, all Brookfield; his maternal grandfather, Keith T. Mackey, Vienna, Ohio; his aunts and uncles, Melody Merrow and her husband Rich, Brian Mackey and his wife Ginni, LuAnn White, and Tod Mackey and his wife Dianne; and his cousins, extended family and a countless number of friends.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth A. Mackey.

Jake continues to live, not only in the minds and hearts of those who knew and loved him, but through his last deed, as an organ donor, to those who were in need.

As suggested by his family, material contributions can be made to the funeral home, where at a later date his family will determine an appropriate charity for his remembrance.
