Farrell schools secretary was St. Adalbert’s member

Florence D. Krokoski, Farrell, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Thursday (3-28-13), with her family at her side in John XXIII Home, Hermitage, where she had been a resident for the past month. She was 86.

Mrs. Krokoski was born May 27, 1926, in Farrell, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Staczyk Bialko. She was a lifelong area resident and a 1944 graduate of Farrell High School.

Mrs. Krokoski was employed as a secretary in the Farrell Area School District for nearly thirty years and retired in the late 1980s.  “Miss Flo”, as she was known, was a secretary in the principal’s office and later in the superintendent’s office, having last worked for the late John Sava.

She was a lifelong member of St. Adalbert’s Church, Farrell, where she sang in the choir and helped with bookkeeping during pierogi sales. Florence was a member and past secretary of the St. Adalbert’s bowling league aat Sunset Lanes in Farrell. She was an avid reader and loved to needlepoint.

Florence was a terrific mother, a wonderful wife and will be remembered by many for her kindness toward children.  She also had a special place in her heart for her former co-workers. May she rest in peace.

Surviving are: her husband of 65 years, Chester “Chet” Krokoski; a daughter, Kathleen Kay and her husband John, Harrisville, Pa; a son, LTC Chester A. Krokoski, Jr. USA (R) and his wife Brenda, Franklin.; two grandchildren, CPT Chester “Chad” A. Krokoski, III and his wife Rebecca, Augusta, Ga.; and David John Krokoski and his wife Molly, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two great grandchildren, Mirabelle and Iris; and a brother, Alfred Bialko and his wife Rebecca, Kennesaw, Ga.

Service:Private funeral service will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery chapel, Hermitage, with the Rev.  Joseph Campbell, pastor of St. Adalbert’s Church, Farrell, officiating.
