Frances W. Madden

Loving mother and aunt


---- — Frances W. Madden, formerly of The Ridgewood at Shenango Valley, and Sharon, passed away peacefully at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2013, in White-Cliff Nursing Home, Hempfield Township. She was 90.

Mrs. Madden was born Nov. 19, 1922, in Homer City, a daughter of Alexander and Anastasia Daskivich Wasnak.

Frances was employed at L&C Jewelers for many years until her retirement. Earlier in life, she was employed at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp., Stupka Motors and Baglier Motors.

She was an active member of St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Sharon, where she loved all the church activities that included singing in the choir and making pierogies.

Frances loved to play cards and was a member of various card clubs. During retirement, she and Paul Madden enjoyed wintering in Florida.

Surviving is a son, David A. Kushay, whom she loved very much. She is also survived by numerous nieces an nephews.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, William Kushay Sr. and Paul F. Madden Jr.; a son, William Kushay; six sisters, Mary Kush, Anne Seginak, Catherine Douds, Rose Kaye, Sophia Cvelbar Rudley and Helen Lysohir; and brother, Nicholas Wasnak.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. John’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 389 Clark St., Sharon, PA 16146.
