Edward L. Small

Jamestown man was Reynolds school custodian

---- — Funeral services will be Thursday for Edward L. Small, 119 Hughes Road, Jamestown, who passed away at 7:05 p.m. Friday (4-5-13) in UPMC Horizon, Greenville. He was 69.

He was born Nov., 12, 1943, in Greenville, to Arthur L. and Virginia M. (Peterson) Small.

On Oct. 12, 1994, he married Linda L. Koval. She survives.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam War, earning the rank SP5.

He worked as a custodian at Reynolds School District from 1990 to 2006. Prior to that, he was a core winder at the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Co., from 1965 to 1982. Prior to that he worked at Ryan Dairy in Greenville.

He also worked to refinish and reupholster furniture.

He attended St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, Jamestown.

He had a strong faith in God, loved spending time with his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and attending local and school sporting events.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Mike (Lynn) Blauser, Jamestown; Mrs. Mark (Lisa) Batt, Greenville; and Mrs. Dan (Lauren) Scott, Transfer; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Patrick (Jessica) Thomas, Pittsburgh; a stepson, Will Finnimore and his fiancee Stella Brammer, Virginia; two brothers, the Rev. Gary Small and his wife Linda, Franklin; and Dave Small and his wife Debi, Clark; and 11 grandchildren, Jessica Batt, Michel Blauser, Lucy Blauser, Jordan Batt, Alaina Batt, Joseph Batt, Amy Batt, Lilly Thomas, Rowan Thomas, Audra Thomas and Airyella Kinsey.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Nicholas Edward Blauser; a brother, James L. Small; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Small.


Edward L., 119 Hughes Road, Jamestown.

Calling hours: 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (4-10-13) and 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday (4-11-13) in RANDALL FUNERAL HOME, 416 Liberty St., Jamestown.

Service: Funeral services at 11 a.m. Thursday (4-11-13) in the funeral home with the Rev. Gary Small, pastor of Atlantic Avenue United Brethren Church, Franklin, officiating.

Burial: Rocky Glen Cemetery, Adamsville. Military honors will be rendered by Jamestown VFW Post 5424 honor guard.
