Mary Ann Hricik

St. Anthony’s member was native of Yugoslavia

- — Mary Ann Hricik of John XXXIII Home, Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, formerly of 800 Linden Ave., Sharon, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 1:25 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, in John XXIII Home. She was 91.

Ms. Hricik was born Jan. 23, 1923, in Vukovar, Yugoslavia, to Stefan Glavasevich and Theresa Fahtih Glavasevich.

She attended schools in Yugoslavia.

As a housekeeper, for nine years she was employed at Oak Tree Country Club, Shenango Township, retiring in 1985.

She truly gave her heart to the Lord. As a devout Catholic, she prayed for everyone and was a lifelong member of St. Anthony’s Church, Sharon.

She also belonged to Apollo Maennerchor Club, Sharon.

Mary Ann loved to cook and bake; her strudels were excellent.

She loved flowers and taking care of them. Most of all, she loved her time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She enjoyed talking to her many friends about olden days of Vukovar and Croatia, dancing and singing, things that meant so much to her.

She enjoyed reading and having her grandchildren call her “Ome.”

Mary Ann was the most loving and sweetest person who had a hug and a kiss for everyone.

Surviving are: a daughter, Pauline Hricik, Sharon; a son, Alexander “Micky” Glaven and his wife Nadean, also Sharon; three grandchildren, Michelle and her husband Rhett Schenker, Kara and her husband Chris Simonoff and Courtney and her husband Laurence Haley; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah Glaven and Owen Schenker.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Adam; and two sisters, Eva Glavasevich and Suzen Glavasevich.

We, the family, greatly appreciated all the kindness and care shown to our mother and would like to thank the staff and caregivers, especially Julie Pollock of John XXIII and Sharon Regional Health System Hospice and Dr. Gregory George. Thank you.

HRICIK

Mary Ann, 91, Hermitage, formerly of 800 Linden St., Sharon.
