Shirley A. Magner, St. Paul’s, West Salem Township, formerly of Hempfield Township, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Friday (3-29-13) at UPMC Horizon Greenville. She was 82.

Mrs. Magner was born April 30, 1930 in Mingo Junction, Ohio, a daughter to Earl and Vivian Stead.

She was a graduate of Baldwin High School and a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael’s Church, Greenville.

Mrs. Magner was a volunteer at the former Greenville Regional Hospital. She enjoyed gardening and she was very much a strong animal rights activist.

She married John H. Magner Jr. June 21, 1949, who preceded her in death May 14, 2002.

She is survived by a daughter, Terry Beutler and her husband Randy, Houston, Texas; a son, Richard E. and his wife Amy of Atlanta, Ga.; and a grandchild, Sarah Beutler.

Mrs. Magner was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters: Marjorie Conley and Carol Bouson.
