Peggy ‘Tennie’ Patterson-Ponder

Sharpsville retiree was Second Baptist member

---- — A funeral service will be held Saturday for Peggy “Tennie” Patterson-Ponder of Sharpsville. She passed away peacefully of natural causes at 7 p.m. Monday (4-1-13). She was 65.

Ms. Patterson-Ponder was born Feb. 6, 1948, in Farrell to Marvin L. and Gedell Sanders Patterson.

A lifelong area resident, she graduated in 1966 from Sharpsville High School.

Peggy worked for many years at Delphi Packard Electric Systems, Warren, Ohio, before taking an early retirement.

In her early years, she was an avid golfer and loved being on the course.

Peggy had a deep religious belief and lived her life by obeying God’s law. She had her Bible study almost daily and was a member of Second Baptist Church in Sharpsville.

She enjoyed traveling the world with her son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, visiting places such as Hawaii, the Bahamas and Las Vegas. Although Peggy loved playing the slots, her favorite game was bingo.

Affectionately named “Big Momma” by her children, she enjoyed going to picnics, fairs and garage sales in the summer with her daughter-in-law and grandchildren.

Her grandson, Dominiq, was one of her great loves; she enjoyed spending time with him, but most of all enjoyed going to his football games to watch him score touchdowns for her. She was over the moon when her granddaughter, Monroe, was born; she had finally gotten her baby girl. She was Monroe’s “Yah Yah” and will be missed dearly by the two of them.

She enjoyed going to golf outings, out to eat and to flea markets with her nieces, Jade and Alicia. She loved her girl nights with them. When her great-niece, Jersi, was born, she was ecstatic that she looked like her and loved their Sundays together.

Peggy was truly a great friend and was loved by all who knew her. There wasn’t anything that she wouldn’t do for anyone. She created great memories that will live on forever through her family.

She will be sadly missed by her mother, Gedell, Sharpsville; her son, Wendell L. Ponder II and his wife Catrina; her grandson, Dominiq, and her granddaughter, Monroe. She is also survived by her brother, Duane Patterson and his companion Jeanettte, South Pymatuning; and nieces, Jade, Jersi and Alicia.

She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her former husband, W. Leon Ponder Sr.; and her father, Marvin L. Patterson.
