William G. Johnston II

Farmer was GC schools maintenance supervisor


---- — William G. Johnston II of Kelly Road, Grove City, died at 12:02 a.m. Monday, April 8, 2013, in Grove City Medical Center, Pine Township. He was 81.

Mr. Johnston was born July 27, 1931, in Pittsburgh to George W. Johnston and Amy C. Binger Johnston.

He attended the former Harrisville High School.

Mr. Johnston retired as supervisor of maintenance from Grove City Area School District, with 31 years of service. He was an active, self-employed farmer.

He was a veteran of the Army, serving during the Korean conflict.

As a member of Scotch Hill Presbyterian Church, Pine Township, Mr. Johnston was an elder.

His wife, the former Roberta S. Stokes, whom he married Nov. 20, 1957, died March 10, 2002.

Surviving are: a daughter, Laura A. Craft and her husband Harry, Woodland Park, Colo.; a son, William G. Johnston III and his wife Neva, Grove City; his stepchildren, Elizabeth Stoughton and her husband William, Slippery Rock; Christine Allen and her husband Mark, St. Petersburg, Fla.; and Jerry Zenobi and his wife Mary Catherine, New Castle; nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley M. Johnston, Tucson, Ariz.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
