---- — A memorial service will be held Thursday for Marie L. Guy of Morton Street, Sharon. She passed away at 6:15 p.m. Saturday (7-20-13) in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness with cancer. She was 70.

Mrs. Guy was born May 6, 1943, in Mimbach, Germany, a daughter of Karl A. and Hildegard Weinland Henrich.

She attended schools in Germany and graduated from high school in 1961. Following graduation, Mrs. Guy enrolled in a trade school in Germany, where she studied the art of sewing for three years.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Sharon, and its council session.

Marie was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting. She was a loving and caring mother to her children and their friends. She was known as the “neighborhood mom,” watching over all the children and pets in the neighborhood.

Marie met her husband, James Harold Guy Jr., while he was serving in the U.S. Army in Germany and married him in Germany on March 9, 1967. He passed away earlier this year on Feb. 13.
