Ruby V. Hyman

Farrell woman was retired Head Start educator


---- — Ruby V. Hyman of Farrell passed away at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013, in her home. She was 69.

Ms. Hyman was born Jan. 26, 1944, in Farrell to James Richard Lampkins and Leahbelle Smith Lampkins.

She graduated from Farrell High School in 1962 and furthered her education by graduating from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where she received a degree in education.

Ruby retired after 30 years as an educator from Farrell School District, where she taught in its Head Start program.

She enjoyed playing bingo, but most of all, loved being with her grandchildren.

Surviving are: her daughter, Mesa Mason and her husband Moses, Nashville, Tenn.; four sons, Anthony Hyman, Farrell; Derrick Hyman, Nashville; McCray Hyman, Sharon; and Marcus Hyman and his wife Tara, Farrell; her sisters, Betty Jean Kirklin and her husband Perry, Miami, Fla.; and Nancy McNeil, Columbus, Ohio; two brothers, Brooker T. Lampkins, also Columbus; and William Lampkins and his wife Devonna, Philadelphia; and 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her soul mate, McCray Roberson, who passed in 2005; three sisters, Rose Marie Crump, Peggy Jean Robinson and Doris Murray; and four brothers, June Lampkins, Marion Lampkins, Carl Lampkins and Cecil Lampkins.
