Farrell man, ’71 BHS grad, worked for Herald, Schmitt


---- — Leo J. Denzinger of 128 Shenango Blvd., Farrell, passed away at 2:36 p.m. Friday (4-19-13) in UPMC Horizon, Farrell, after a brief battle with cancer. He was 60.

He was born April 18, 1953, in Sharon to Leo and Katharina (Niederlechner) Denzinger. He married Michele Baskin on Sept. 24. 1983. She survives at home.

He was a 1971 graduate of Brookfield High School and had attended the York Academy of Arts and Youngstown State University.

He was employed as a carrier for The Herald and had previously been employed for 20 years in the advertising department of Peter J. Schmitt Co., in Sharon.

He was a member of St. Anthony’s Church, Sharon.

Leo enjoyed hiking, gardening and collecting military memorabilia.

He is survived by a son, Alexander L. Denzinger, Farrell; a sister, Katherine Lamb, Charlotte, N.C.; and two brothers, Paul E. Denzinger and his wife Carol, Aurora, Ohio; and George Denzinger and his wife Lynn, Grand Rapids, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Juliana “Jules” Denzinger, who tragically passed away just two days ago.

Service: A joint Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. Monday (4-22-13) in St. Michael’s Church, Greenville, with the Rev. Christopher M. Barnes, parochial vicar, as celebrant.

Interment: With committal in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Greenville.
